Getting to Know the Carnival

Magic. That´s the way we can define Salvador´s Carnival. A sea of people, everybody with the same purpose: have fun to the last minute. It´s about 6 days of partying and 359 days of countdown to have this moment back again. It´s time to let it all out, dress our “abadá” (the carnival bloco costume) and make ourselves become definately the fundamental character of this party: the party goer ( o folião). Be it on the “Dodô” way, on the “Osmar” way or even on the “Batatinha” way. It´s not which way we´re taking that matters but how much we´re going to have fun.

After picking out our favorite “Bloco” ( The carnival group) which could be Trio (the carnival Truck) Alternative Group or even an Afro group, it´s time to go out on the Street and go partying. There are also those who prefer to be on the Viewing Stand to wach it all in the most comfortable and sofisticated way. But for those who are on the very Avenue, there´s nothing better than to count on the rope security and the friendly way of the Rope Holders that work as if they were “Guardian Angels” throughout the circuit, and since we aren´t made out of stone, it´s a good thing to drop by at the Supporting Cart to have something to drink and munch on. It´s next to impossible to put into words the emotion of getting onto the Avenue. It feels like as if we are the very singer on the Trio Elétrico (the Truck where the band and singer are playing on). That´s our show, we want everybody to see us and as we look at one another´s eyes, we want to carry them along to where we are and share the same joy.

That´s the Bahian Carnival synergy. The greatest popular festival in the world is nothing but a great exchange of joy. The commitment of the organizers and the Comitee of the “Blocos” along with all the members make out of this alliance practically a familiar interaction which starts from the “Pre-habilitation”(the membership), goes through the acquisition of the Abadás and goes to the “Arrastão” (the last day meeting of all the Trios in one spot) on the Holly Wednesday (quarta-feira de cinzas) the last day of Carnival.

We take good care of the Streets of Salvador. We mingle with the “Pipoca” (nickname given to those who dance outside the Rope around the Truck) and with the Independent Trios and we all make together the greatest event in the whole planet. You are the only one missing in joining us and make this meeting a Trio Meeting, in which all the emotions entertwine and we rock the joint.
